New York Workers' Compensation Board Announces New SLU Guidelines

On December 28, 2017, the New York State Workers' Compensation Board adopted the 2018 Permanent Impairment Guidelines for Schedule Loss of Use Evaluations, revising the way determinations of permanent injuries to the extremities are determined.

The final Impairment Guidelines adopted represent a significant improvement over the Guidelines proposed in September of 2017, which would have severely harmed the injured workers in our state. However, while the 2018 Guidelines share substantial similarities with those that have been in place since 1992, several key differences are noted. The attorneys and staff at Klee Woolf Goldman & Filpi, LLP have studied these guidelines and are knowledgeable in the ways these changes will affect our clients.
